I had to post something so I would no longer be at the bottom of the list of linked blogs on Beth's list.
I'm currently in NY enjoying the snowy weather. We fly back tomorrow. Chris is sick now since apparently we're taking turns getting sick. I just got over a cold as we got to Maryland, but I think he's sicker than I was.
Went to a funeral this morning and realized how uncomfortable I am with all the Catholic ceremonies. Did not enjoy that. The food afterward was pretty good though.

China Flashback
I had a meal in Guangzhou China that was at a Sichuan restaurant. One of the best meals I ever had. We had a dish with sweet potatoes and pork that was just incredible. My translator couldn't tell me the English name and I couldn't remember the Chinese name. I've been trying to find the dish online and now I found it! But not sure if I'll be able to make it...but I can dream!

meme
Brien tagged me on this one:
The Rules:
* Link the person(s) who tagged me
* Mention the rules on my blog
* Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of mine
* Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them
* Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged
I think the only exception is that I'm not tagging anyone, because I think it's made the rounds.
1) I love gossip blogs.
2) I hate coming in on the middle of movies or TV shows, I'd rather not watch it than watch part of it.
3) I eat ketchup on beans and peas.
4) I can whistle in stereo.
5) I have an uncanny ability to remember song lyrics
6) I have a tattoo.

Drive to work
My drive to and from work takes about 30 minutes. 80% of that drive is through agricultural fields and pastures. This photo is of a milo (sorghum) field near work. Milo is those little round seed in your bags of bird seed. It is also used for cattle feed around here. This time of the year the fields are a checkerboard of orange milo, green corn, and dark green cotton. What do you seen on your daily commute?

Song stuck in my head
I've had this stuck in my head all week. From one of my favorite albums ever, Skylarking. This is Dear God by XTC.
Dear god, hope you get the letter and...
I pray you can make it better down here
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
But all the people that you made in your image
See them starving in the street
'Cause they don't get enough to eat from god
I can't believe in you
Dear god, sorry to disturb you but...
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
And all the people that you made in your image
See them fighting in the street
'Cause they can't make opinions meet about god
I can't believe in you
Did you make disease and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!
Dear god don't know if you noticed but...
Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book
And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look
And all the people that you made in your image
still believing that junk is true
Well I know it ain't, and so do you
Dear god
I can't believe in
I don't believe
I won't believe in heaven or hell
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well
No pearly gates, no thorny crown
You're always letting us humans down
The wars you bring, the babes you drown
Those lost at sea and never found
And it's the same the whole world 'round
The hurt I see helps to compound
That father, son and holy ghost
Is just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there you'll perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve
If there's one thing I don't believe in
It's you

Leaving on a Jet Plane
So Monday I fly to Hong Kong. From there I go to either Vietnam or China, depending on the VISA situation. Ultimately I'll be in China for most of my visit, but I'll finish up back in Hong Kong, where me and my boss have a deliciously free morning to go shopping! Not at the malls mind you, because Hong Kong makes New York look cheap. We're going to have to find a nice street market somewhere.
It's crazy to me that my first overseas trip will be to Asia. I'll try to blog from there, but I have no idea what the internet access is like. I'll be back the 16th.
off to pack!
